Why see Two Trains Running?
The Gripping Drama
Depicting racial segregation in 20th Century America, Two Trains Running tells the story of the black American migration to Northern states in order to escape the harsh Jim Crow Laws and how years later, they were still affected by this move. The play was first performed in 1990, before entering Broadway in 1992 and then becoming a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for drama.
What Is The Story?
The story portrays seven African Americans as they are forced to leave their homes due to their neighborhood being redeveloped, spotlighting the story of Memphis Lee, who is forced to fight for his business and livelihood; his diner. The struggle to gain success is prominent and painful in an unequal society; the story illustrates characters as they battle to establish lives for themselves in an ever-changing world.
